We will feed GPT-4 sketches (like the picture left) to train it as a level designer.

In the samples, we simplify the stage unit into small squares. Also, we tell GPT-4 the player's starting point and end point, the types of enemies, the location of the ground and the door, and the player’s possible routes.

Chain of Thought Prompting

The route is usually not single. Players can bypass some enemies, but the routes are longer. If a player chooses a shortcut to clear the stage, it generally means more difficulty. (Facing three enemies at the same time is a big challenge)

To teach GPT-4 this type of level design theory, we will also input a series of level design concepts and sample design ideas into the model as Chain of Thought Prompting. In this way, GPT-4 can learn the reasoning process of level design.
